Dear FIG Applicant,

Acceptance into the FIG program is competitive. Applicants to the program are reviewed by departmental committee and chosen based on strength of application. A strong applicant: 1) demonstrates an interest in getting involved at Texas State, 2) has stated goals for his/her education at Texas State, 3) is willing to work towards those goals, and 4) is able to tie those goals into his/her reasons for seeking to be a part of the FIG program. Students will be required to respond to a short questionnaire as a part of their application.

Living/Learning Agreement

The Freshman Interest Group Program is designed to function in an academic environment; therefore, by enrolling in the Freshman Interest Group Program, I understand that I will:

If I am accepted into the FIG program, I will live in the residence hall designated for my FIG.

If I am accepted into the FIG program, I will actively participate in 80% of the Events offered by the FIG by the end of the spring semester, including Peer Assistant events, Resident Assistant events, and Hall Council events.

If I am accepted into the FIG program, I will abide by the University Code of Conduct and Residence Life policies, and I will be courteous and respect the rights of other FIG members and staff.

If I am accepted into the FIG program, I will register for blocked FIG courses, if my FIG offers them.

If I am accepted into the FIG program, I will consult with my academic advisor before making changes to my schedule.

I understand that failure to abide by this agreement may result in removal from the FIG program and possibly disciplinary action via the Texas State University Student Conduct processes.

Applications will be reviewed starting May 1st. Please plan on attending an earlier Orientation Session if you are selected for a Freshman Interest Group
